County to Consolidate Building, Planning, & Public Works Under One Roof By End of 2019

Kennewick, WA
– By the end of 2019, Benton County residents will be able to do business with the Building, Planning, and Public Works departments all under one roof in a new Public Services Building located at 102206 E. Wiser Parkway in Kennewick.

About the Move
The move to consolidate services in one location began about a year and a half ago and was aimed at improving efficiency and customer experience for all who do business with the County’s Building, Planning, and Public Works departments.
No new hires are planned for this transition, and about 17 to 20 of the existing employees throughout the three departments will be housed at the Tri-Cities location, with the remainder based in Prosser.

The three departments will all continue to maintain their presence in Prosser, with no decrease in services to the public, in addition to having offices at the new building on Wiser Parkway. After the move to Wiser Parkway, the County plans to have all three departments’ Prosser offices located at the County Courthouse, with the intention of eventually moving out of the Planning Annex on Dudley Avenue, to further improve customer experience and efficiency.

The goal of the Public Services Building is to make filing permits, asking questions, and interacting with the three departments as streamlined as possible, with representatives from all three departments available in the same location to answer questions and assist the public.

Project Schedule and Impact to Services
The project is scheduled to be completed in December 2019 but may be completed sooner. A final opening date and ribbon cutting celebration will be announced by the County when the building has been completed. The County expects that the move to the new building will be seamless, with no interruption to public services or office closures during regular business hours.
